Betty Jean Flowers Landon, 83, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Betty Jean was born on July 21, 1937 to the late Norwood J. and Clara George Flowers. Betty Jean retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Harborview Nursing Home but is probably best remembered for over thirty years of employment with Susie’s Kitchen. A longtime member of the Manningtown Church of God, Betty Jean was an avid reader who loved flowers. She devoted herself to her family and cherished the times they spent together more than anything.
In addition to her parents, her sisters, Virginia Parra, Glenda Carter and Sarah Coley and her brother, Doug Flowers, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rocky and Anna Lane of Odum; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carson and LaJuan Flowers of Jesup and Paul and Marjorie Flowers of St. Simon’s Island; grandchildren, Jennifer “Latasha” Carver and husband, Mark of Alma and Kristy Anderson and husband, Kade of Odum and great grandchildren, MaKayla, Grant, Kadie and Kaycee. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Reverend Tim Fulmer and Mark Carver officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Little Creek Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Manning, Dr. Charles Carter, Andy Flowers, Wayne Flowers, James Manning and Brad Clitt. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Manningtown Church of God.
