Betty Evelyn Hutcheson, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Hospice of South Georgia surrounded by her loving family.
A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Betty was born on September 24, 1947 to the late, Jessie Thomas Freeman and Odessa Potter Freeman. She worked as a School Bus Driver with the Wayne County Board of Education where she retired after many years of faithful service. Betty was a long time member of the Crossroads Church of God. She was always a giving person, willing to help anybody she could, who cherished the time she was able to spend with her beloved family. In addition to her parents, her son, Jason David Hutcheson; brother, Marvin D. Freeman and infant brother, Alvin Freeman, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Jack Hutcheson of Jesup; two sons, Dewayne Hutcheson and wife, Joanie of Odum and Darrell Hutcheson and wife, Amanda of Jesup and eight grandchildren, Amanda Hutcheson, Amber Archibald, Brandon Hutcheson, Darrell Hutcheson, Jr., Alexis Westberry, Sam Hutcheson, Jadan Manning and Justin Hutcheson. Numerous great grandchildren and extended family members also survive.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with graveside services following immediately at Spring Grove Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Justin, Brandon, Darrell, Jr. and Sam. Honorary pallbearers will be her former coworkers, Bus Drivers from the Wayne County School System.
