Bernice Eloise “Criket” Marbury Obituary

Bernice Eloise Marbury (Criket), 90, passed away following a brief illness on January 27, 2025 at her home in Jesup, Georgia.  She was born on July 22, 1934 in Duluth, Georgia, grew up in Roswell, Georgia and attended Roswell High School.  Criket was married to her husband, John Marbury, for over 41 years.

Criket is survived by her husband, John Marbury, and their children Vicky Moss, Rick Dinsmore, Bill Marbury(Shani) and Rob Marbury (Cindi); grandchildren Joseph Moss, Corey Moss (Ainne),Patrick Dinsmore, Chelsea Goarcke (Josh), Andrew Marbury (Courtney) Jessica Coffia (Jacob) Jake Marbury ( Katie), Jordan Marbury, Evan Marbury, Taylor Marbury, Alexis Marbury, J.T. Marbury, Aaron Marbury, Jade Whitehead, Jaelyn Sims, Summer Mitchell, Melodi Hooper, Thomas Sims and 22greatgrandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother Marcus Dove and sister Thelma Howard.

Criket was preceded in death by her parents Mildred and Carl Dove, brother Ed Dove, son Michael Dinsmore and grandson Shawn Dinsmore.

Criket spent most of her life in the North Metro Atlanta area and worked in retail.  She retired and did some charity work in Gwinnett County.   Slightly over two years ago, Criket and husband John moved to Jesup in southeast Georgia, getting out of the hectic traffic of the Atlanta area.  She adjusted well to the small-town lifestyle and loved mostly being in her new house.  Almost every day was pajama day for Criket.  She would eat breakfast in her sunroom recliner, check Facebook on her iPad and when it got dark, head inside for a little TV time.  Netflix was her favorite.  Criket thoroughly enjoyed visits from her beloved family. She really treasured frequent visits from grandkids Lyndie and Brayden but also from those who stopped by when in the area.   Family outings and Taco Tuesdays (mostly with a margarita) were special treats.  She enjoyed life and testimonials show that she had a positive loving influence on many.  She will be missed and absolutely never forgotten.
