Ashley Powell Hill Sr. was born in Charleston, SC to Rufus Ashley and Mary McGahee Hill, on January 20th, 1948. Ashley peacefully ascended to his eternal Heavenly home on January 11th, 2021.
He is preceded in death by his father, two wonderful sisters, Phyllis Edna and Cynthia Swinson, a niece, Sandra Kellum Brewer and his twin brother, James Howell Hill.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Mary, his wife, Amy Lee Hill and their son, Ashton Everett Hill of Jesup, Ga., a son, Ashley Powell Hill Jr. and a daughter, Liberty Irene Tillman and her husband, Trey, all of Charleston. A very special nephew, Thomas “Tommy” Wayne Kellum Jr. and his wife, Susan White Kellum of Huger, SC. Four granddaughters, Ashley Sophia “Sophie” Hill, Avery Craven Tillman, Ruby Margarette Hill and Ashley Quinn Tillman. A great nephew, Thomas Wayne Kellum III and his wife, Ann Maybank, and their three children, Maggie, Katherine and Rees all of Mt. Pleasant, SC. A great niece, Melissa Kellum Parent and her husband, Jeremy and their son, Ashley Riggs Parent. A great nephew, Elliott Brewer of Tennessee.
Other special survivors include Hope Byrd of Mt. Pleasant, SC., Ashley’s father and mother-in-law, Robert E. And Grace Lee of Savannah, Ga, his Aunt Estelle H. Hampton and family friend, Ray Stephens.
Ashley spend almost 50 years in the car business. He began in F&I at Charleston Lincoln Mercury. He was a dealer partner at West Ashley Toyota, a Regional Sales Manager with Southeast Toyota and owner of Toyota of New Bern. After a brief retirement, he and his family moved to Savannah, Georgia. He was General Manager of Savannah Mitsubishi before joining the amazing J. C. Lewis Ford family. Ashley finished his career as General Manager of J.C. Lewis Ford in Hinesville, Georgia. A very special thank you to all his employees that helped make J.C. Lewis Ford in Hinesville a huge success and fellow “brother” managers, Mike, Virgil, and Rod. An immeasurable amount of gratitude to Walter C. Lewis and family for everything over the last ten years.
Ashley was extremely devoted to his family, especially his three children. He enjoyed traveling to warmer climates, a competitive round of golf and salty oysters with a cold Miller Lite. He will always be remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends.
