Annie Faye (Reddish) Johnson

Annie Faye Reddish Johnson, 78, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia and her loving family.

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Faye was born on February 16, 1943 to the late Joe Reddish and Estelle Herrin Reddish.  She was a self-taught beautician who worked from home for many years specializing in the old fashioned “bee hive” hair style.  Faye was truly gifted as an artist, not only with styling hair, but she could also draw beautifully and could sing as well.  Many days and nights were spent singing and praising the Lord during revivals and camp meetings all over the area   She was an active member of the Crossroads Church of God for nearly fifty years  where she loved singing in the choir and participating in nearly every activity.  As an actor, Faye played the part of Lulu Roman in the Wayne County Production version of the He Haw Show and was Mrs. Clause for the Wayne County Christmas Parade and the Santa House for countless years.  In addition to her parents, her husband, Leighton Revae Johnson, Sr.; her son, Leighton Revae Johnson, Jr.;  and her sisters, Wilera Aspinwall, Grace Crews, Ruth Reddish and brother, John Reddish, all preceded her in death.   

Survivors include two children, Mike Carpenter and Kim Carpenter and daughter-in-law, Connie Carpenter all of Jesup and Tiffany Costello;  grandchildren, Serenity Carpenter, Brittany Apler and husband, Jon, Heather Vidal Carpenter, Danni-Lynn Carpenter, Abigail Pruin, Chad Wheeler, Megan Crawford and Michael Wheeler and great grandchildren, Sky Carpenter, Dalton Shaw, Kazlynn Taylor, Wyatt Perkins, Joe Perkins, Cesc Vidal Carpenter, Wesson Vidal Carpenter and Kamil Merritt.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2021 at Crossroads Church of God with Reverends Brandon Stone and Hulet Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.

Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Chad Wheeler, Wyatt Perkins, Joe Perkins, Dalton Shaw, Cesc Vidal Carpenter and  Carl Aspinwall.
