Obituary

Albert Paul Stephens, Sr., 81, affectionately known by his family and friends as “Whoochie” passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Magnolia Manor of Midway under the care of Hospice of South Georgia after an extended illness.

A resident of Wayne County for most of his life, Whoochie was born on April 6, 1939 in Brunswick to the late, Peter R. “Pete” Stephens and Arizona “Zonnie” Stephens.  He was a talented artist who could draw just about anything and he used these abilities to run his own business painting Billboards along the roadside.  Whoochie loved having a good time with his friends and family, laughing and telling jokes, singing karaoke and listening to bluegrass music.  In addition to his parents, his brothers and sisters, Retta Stephens, Colvin Stephens, Marie Moxley, Ola Stallings, Theron Stephens, Wayne Stephens and Dale Gordon all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Tina Stephens of Jesup; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Theona Stephens of Jesup and sister, Alice Miller of Jesup.  A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
