Al Gordon

Allen Jules Gordon, 95, affectionately known by most as, “Al,” passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Hospice of South Georgia in Jesup.

A native and lifelong resident of Brunswick, Al was born on August 30, 1929 to the late Claire and David Gordon.  As a young man he worked in the family business, Gordon’s Department store, in downtown Brunswick.  Al also worked as the men’s department manager at Belk’s for many years before getting his real estate license, working for several different brokers over the years.  He was an avid golfer and loved to play tennis.  Al was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Brunswick where he fulfilled many roles over the years including Sunday School Teacher and Deacon.  Al enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs play football and he was always outgoing and funny.  His personality was warm and friendly and he never met a stranger.  Al loved people and in return, they loved him back.

In addition to his parents, his sister, Jean, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Young and son-in-law, Lorin Young, both of Brunswick.  A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family members also survive.

Services will be private.
