Roger Poole

Roger Poole, 81, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 under the care of Hospice of South Georgia Inc. 

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Roger was born on March 15, 1938 to the late Robert and Vida Lee Collins Poole.  He worked as a truck driver for almost thirty-five years, eventually retiring from Roadway Trucking after twenty-three years of service.  In his younger years, Roger enjoyed fishing in his spare time and after retirement he spent his days taking it easy and spending time with the ones he loved. 

In addition to his parents, his son, Larry Anthony “Tony” Poole and his brother, Joey Poole preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, JoeAnn Poole of Jesup;  one daughter, Lori Carter of Jesup; two sons, Dale and Eric Poole both of Jesup; sisters, Faye Beck and husband, Howard of Scottsboro, Alabama and Jeanine Driggers and husband, Eddie of Jesup; grandchildren, Tina Hires and Shawn Herndon, Jessica Poole, Nikki Poole, April Carter, Josh Carter and Katie Poole.  Twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with graveside funeral services following in Red Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Nelson Wasdin, Robert Walker, Barry Martin, Shawn Herndon, Walt Tillman and Johnny Campbell.  Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Hospice of South Georgia, Inc.
