Joseph Herman Fennel

Joseph Herman Fennel, 62, affectionately known by his friends and family as “Joey” passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

A resident of Pierce County for the past twenty years, Joey was born on March 27, 1957 in Wayne County.  He was employed by Waycross Lawn and Service Center and had formerly operated Fennel’s Handy Market in Bristol with his dad, Herman for nearly fifteen years.  Joey was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit.  He was always quick to lend a hand to someone in need, regardless of what he was doing.  Joey was an awesome brother and loved fixing things as much as he loved his family and friends. 

His mother, Shirley Horton Lane, his father Herman Fennel and wife, Iris and his sister, Shirley Ann Fennel preceded him in death.

Survivors include his brother, Rob Fennel and wife Leisa of Jesup; daughter, Laura Mullis of Screven; half brothers and sisters, Marcy McCauley and husband, Scott of Boston, Massachusetts, Reuben Wells, Jr. and wife, Lorine, Becky Wells Durden and husband, Tom, Joel Wells and Dwayne Wells and wife, Tyra all of Hinesville; nieces, Brianne Fennel Mitcham and Hannah Fennel and nephew, Ridge Fennel all of Jesup.  A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members also survive.

Private memorial services were held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home.
