Joe Anderson Obituary

Joe Marvin Anderson, 61, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Riverview Health and Rehabilitation under the care of Hospice Savannah Inc.

Joe was born on October 19, 1957 in Jesup, Georgia to the late Marvin and Catherine Cowan Anderson.  He was a 1975 graduate of Wayne County High School and later attended South Georgia Technical College in Americus where he received certification in Auto Service Technology and Welding.  Joe was a master of many different trades and had worked  in several different industries during his lifetime.  He worked as a mechanic at Walker Chevrolet for several years and also at Rayonier Advanced Materials before relocating to Savannah where he worked as a forklift operator for American Packing and Crating, a company handling the shipping and receiving of items entering and leaving the port of Savannah.  Most recently, Joe had worked as a chef at several local restaurants, including the Embassy Suites  and The Hitch, both located in Savannah.  Joe was easy going and loved people.  He volunteered his time helping others through Celebrate Recovery and was a member of Relentless Church in Savannah.

In addition to his parents, his infant twin sister, Jan Marie Anderson  and three other sisters, Louise McClendon, Carol Dietz and husband, John and Ellen Moore all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sister, Marian Anderson LaViano and husband, Linden of Lake Forest, CA and two brothers-in-law, Tommy McClendon and wife, Sally of Fayetteville, GA and Harold Moore of Brunswick. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Relentless Church on Waters Ave. in Savannah with Pastor Kyle Garrison officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.

Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Altamaha Baptist Church Cemetery in Jesup.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Relentless Church, 8511 Waters Avenue, Savannah, GA 31406.
