Evelyn Ray Kinchen, 88, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A resident of Screven for nearly forty years and former resident of Tifton for twenty-five years, Evelyn was born on March 27, 1931 in Enigma, Georgia to the late D. W. and Maybelle Cravey Ray. She was a bookkeeper by trade and a homemaker who devoted herself to her family. Evelyn was a member of O’Quinn Baptist Church and loved flowers and gardening but the true love of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, her brother, Henry Ray and sisters, Wilma Ikerd, Mittie Dorminey, Ruby Allen and Doris Moorman and daughter-in-law, Pam Kinchen all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Thomas Kinchen Sr. and son Tom Kinchen both of Screven; daughter, Karen Harris and husband, Carl of Screven; two sisters, Lucille McMillan of Enigma, Georgia and Jean Signorello of Orange City, Florida; five grandchildren, Chris Harris and companion, Tara of Jesup, Kyle Harris and wife, Whitney of Mableton, Georgia, Ken Harris and wife, Katie of Screven, Cale Harris and wife, Melanie of Screven and Amanda Truelove and husband, Kyle of Clermont, Georgia and three great grandchildren, Kennedy, Houston and Koan. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at O’Quinn Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Danny Daniels officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Chris, Kyle, Ken and Cale Harris, Kyle Truelove and Ted Thornton.
