Cerriea Elaine Matthew
Cerriea Elaine Matthew, 53, affectionately known by her family and friends as “C.J.,” passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
A resident of Pierce County for over thirty years, C.J. was born on May 2, 1966 in Okeechobee, Florida. She was always a hard worker and had held down several jobs at a time for much of her life. Most recently, C.J. had been working as a server at Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores while operating her own business, Cerriea’s Organizing and Decorating and cleaning houses on the side. She enjoyed dancing, singing, listening to music, trips to the beach beach and collecting “what nots” of all kinds, but mostly loved spending time with her beloved family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Her father, Leon Ferris Cotton, and her brother, Houston “Bucky” Cotton, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her four daughters, Candice Jordan Mitchell and husband, George of Blackshear, Sarah Darlene Barr and husband, Cody of Okeechobee, FL, Caity Dawn Henderson and husband, Nicholas of Blackshear and MacKenzie Jordan of Blackshear; mother, Brenda LaGrange Prescott; grandmother, Evelyn LaGrange; two sisters, Angeline Horton and husband, Trent and Renee Cotton; brother, George “Buddy” Cotton all of Okeechobee, FL and nine grandchildren, Gadge, Carigan, Abbigail, Ashley, Walt, Kiley, Brody, Bailey and Drake. A host of nieces, also known as “glitter girls”, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Laura S. Walker State Park in Waycross.
